Split bills
Split bills with friends, without the awkward maths
Dinners, movie tickets, cab rides, a shared Netflix plan. BalanceMitra splits any bill equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares, and keeps one clear balance for every friend.
Why splitting bills goes wrong
Splitting a bill sounds simple until the second or third outing. One friend paid for dinner, another booked the cab, someone else covered the tickets, and two people skipped dessert. By the weekend nobody remembers who owes what, and asking feels petty.
Notes apps and chat messages do not add up the numbers for you. A spreadsheet works until someone forgets to update it. What you need is one place where every expense is recorded once, the maths happens automatically, and every person sees the same balance.
Features
How BalanceMitra helps you split fairly
Four ways to split
Split equally, by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares. Pick whatever matches what each person actually had.
Groups or one-to-one
Create a split group for your gang, or add an expense with just one friend. No group needed for a single shared cab.
One number per friend
A friend’s balance includes what you share in every group, so you see one clear amount instead of many small ones.
Settle up when ready
BalanceMitra works out who owes whom. When someone pays you back, record the settlement and the balance resets.
Bill photos as proof
Attach up to five photos to an entry, so the restaurant bill is right there if anyone asks.
Works without signal
Add the expense in a basement restaurant with no network. It saves on your phone and syncs when you reconnect.
Example: one dinner, four fair splits
Aman pays ₹3,600 for dinner with Priya, Vikram, and Sara. If everyone ate about the same, an equal split gives ₹900 each. If Aman and Priya ordered the large platters, split by shares at 2 : 2 : 1 : 1 and Aman and Priya owe ₹1,200 each while Vikram and Sara owe ₹600 each.
Prefer to type what each person had? Use exact amounts. Want one person to cover 40% because it was their birthday treat? Use percentages. Either way, BalanceMitra counts Aman’s own share and shows the other three exactly what they owe him.
How it works
Start splitting in three steps
- 1
Create a split group
Sign up with email or phone, then start a group for your friends, flat, or office lunch crew.
- 2
Invite your friends
Share an invite code or invite a contact. They join in seconds.
- 3
Add expenses as they happen
Enter who paid and how to split. Balances update for everyone at once.
Common questions
Yes. Besides an equal split, you can split by exact amounts, by percentage, or by shares, so each person pays for what they actually had.
To see the group and add their own expenses, your friends join with an invite code or a contact invite. Once they join, everyone sees the same balances.
Yes. Open Friends, pick a friend, and add an expense between the two of you. Their balance also includes what you share in groups.
