Example: a four-friend Goa trip
Aman, Priya, Vikram, and Sara go to Goa. Priya books the villa for ₹24,000 and splits it equally, ₹6,000 each. Aman pays ₹3,600 for a seafood dinner; Aman and Priya ordered more, so they split it by shares at 2 : 2 : 1 : 1, which comes to ₹1,200, ₹1,200, ₹600, and ₹600.
Vikram covers the scooter rentals and splits them by exact amounts, since Sara did not ride. Every entry updates the balances for all four at once. On the last evening, each person can see exactly what they owe or are owed, and records the settlement after paying back.
Back home, Priya and Sara share a cab from the airport. Priya adds it as a one-to-one expense with Sara, no group needed. Sara’s balance with Priya now includes both the trip group and the cab, so they see one number and settle it in one go.
